Reconnect With Your Incredible Body

Chiropractic care during pregnancy helps relieve many of the common aches and pains women undergo as your body adjusts to carrying extra weight. As a result of care, you may experience more energy, better sleep, and all kinds of whole-body benefits.

Research has shown that women who receive chiropractic care during pregnancy often experience reduced delivery time and a more natural birth, without the need for medical interventions. One aspect of this care involves addressing the round ligament, which plays a significant role in the comfort and positioning of the baby in the womb.

By balancing the round ligament, chiropractic adjustments can create a more comfortable environment for the baby within the womb. These adjustments release tension in the ligaments and uterus, allowing the baby to move freely and assume the optimal position for growth and birth. This can facilitate a smoother and more natural birthing process, aligning with the body’s natural design.

Furthermore, it is crucial to emphasize the importance of postpartum chiropractic care. The physical demands of breastfeeding and carrying a newborn can place strain on the mother’s body. Additionally, hormonal changes, particularly the presence of relaxin, can affect the joints and have a lasting impact. Therefore, checking the alignment of the spine and joints becomes even more critical after birth, as it helps address any residual effects and supports the mother’s overall well-being during this transformative time.

A Healthier Mom Means a Healthier Baby

There’s a divine connection between a mother and her baby. When a woman has less stress in her body, that translates to a healthier baby with greater capacity for wellness.

Unborn babies are constantly growing and developing an unbelievable number of neurons. It’s important to ensure everything is functioning correctly in the mom’s body, so the baby can achieve peak neuron growth, without any problems or limitations.

Empowering You to Achieve Your Goals

We see women at every stage. Some practice members start care while trying to conceive, since they want to make sure every system in their bodies is functioning at 100%. They stick with us through conception, all three trimesters, and postpartum recovery, when we check the mom’s spine and provide care for the baby.

One special case we often see is women who had a C-section in the past, but are hoping for a natural delivery this time. By caring for the nervous system, we ensure their bodies are functioning optimally, so they can achieve their goal. We’ve seen many women experience natural childbirth, no matter how low they were told their odds were.

Our Approach to Care

Dr. Matt uses the Webster Technique to check for tight ligaments and help your body move better. He doesn’t use much pressure while giving an adjustment, but keeps the process comfortable and pain free.

We won’t take any X-rays during your consultation, as we have other ways to find the subluxation that’s causing symptoms. During your exam, Dr. Matt will use motion palpations to feel how your joints move and check the tone of your nervous system. We pay close attention to your case history and concerns, so we can develop a personalized plan of care with your health goals at the center.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is chiropractic care safe during pregnancy?
Yes, chiropractic care is safe and beneficial during pregnancy. We use pregnancy pillows to provide comfort and proper support during adjustments. Our techniques are specifically adapted to accommodate the needs of pregnant women, ensuring both safety and effectiveness.

How can chiropractic care help with pregnancy-related discomfort?

Chiropractic care, including techniques like the Webster technique, helps alleviate pregnancy-related discomfort by ensuring proper alignment and reducing tension in the pelvis and round ligaments. This helps to relieve common pregnancy issues such as lower back pain, pelvic pain, and sciatica.

In addition, we may use tools like the ArthroStim®, an electric adjusting tool that sends a light impulse into the spine. This helps ensure precise and gentle adjustments tailored to the unique needs of pregnant women.

How often should I see a chiropractor during pregnancy?

Ideally, start chiropractic care as soon as you find out you’re pregnant. Regular visits can help maintain proper alignment, reduce labor time, and decrease discomfort during pregnancy. The frequency of visits will depend on your individual needs and the progress of your pregnancy, but regular adjustments can provide ongoing support and relief.
Can chiropractic care prepare my body for labor and delivery?
Yes, chiropractic care can prepare your body for labor and delivery. Studies have shown that chiropractic care can reduce labor time and the likelihood of interventions during delivery. By maintaining proper alignment and relieving tension, chiropractic care helps ensure that your body is in the best possible condition for a smoother, more efficient labor and delivery process.

Can chiropractic care help with breech positioning?

While we do not directly turn the baby, chiropractic care can create more space in the pelvis, giving the baby a better chance to move into the correct position. Adjusting the pelvis and reducing tension in the surrounding ligaments can help optimize the environment so the baby can turn naturally.

Can chiropractic care benefit my baby after birth?

Yes, chiropractic care can benefit your baby after birth. The birthing process can be stressful for the baby, even in natural births. Chiropractic adjustments can help relieve any stress or misalignments that occurred during delivery, promoting better overall health and comfort for your newborn.

Reducing Recovery Time So You Can Thrive

Dr. Matt once provided prenatal adjustments for a friend, who is also a chiropractor. Following a smooth delivery, she rested for a few days, while Dr. Matt covered for her at the clinic. After just one week at home, she was back at the office adjusting her practice members with her baby strapped to her chest!
